Educators Network

Welcome to the Educators Network!

The Educators Network is a dynamic space where educators come together to discuss and exchange on pressing challenges related to the sustainable transformation of our agrifood systems. As the world faces challenges such as climate change, biodiversity loss and food insecurity, educators play a crucial role in shaping a sustainable future. This network supports educators through essential connections, tools and skills to create and lead impactful education projects centred on agrifood systems. Members are invited to share their initiatives, fostering a dynamic and vibrant community of practice, collaboration and support.

The network consists of a cultural, regional and gender diverse group of formal and non-formal educators. Members are encouraged to connect regularly through online discussion forums, capacity-building teachers' labs and network meetings, with opportunities to co-create educational resources across each element.

Together, let's inspire the next generation to become agents of change in agrifood systems.

Teachers Labs

The Teachers Labs support the educators’ community of practice, providing educators an opportunity to explore new horizons in agrifood systems education and competency-based teaching. This network aims to foster collaboration and ignite partnerships where teaching becomes a journey of discovery in agrifood systems transformations.

Teachers Labs are interactive training sessions, led by agrifood systems experts in collaboration with FAO and partners. Each lab offers a wealth of insights and resources to enhance your teaching practice; from incorporating innovative methodologies into your curriculum, to spearheading community engagement projects, the labs empower educators to shape the future of education.

Join us throughout our Teachers Labs series and discover how you can contribute to the transformation of our agrifood systems. Together, let us redefine the boundaries of education and empower the next generation of learners to become positive agents of change for agrifood systems transformation!

Network Meetings

The network meetings provide educators with support in project development and community activities, as well as an open space to share community insights. Network meetings serve as an inclusive space for educators to communicate and share teaching methods, research, updates and progress of ongoing projects.

By exchanging insights on effective methods, staying informed on relevant topics and updating each other on project progress, the Educators Network promotes new ways of educating future generations. The aim is to facilitate a community of practice for agrifood systems education through a culture of learning, collaboration and innovative thinking.

Discussion Space

The discussion space is a vital component of the network, that provides a dedicated platform for educators to engage in meaningful dialogue about critical issues in agrifood systems education. The space is regularly refreshed with new prompts and updates to foster ongoing discussion and keep educators informed about the latest developments and challenges in the field.

By fostering an environment where educators can share experiences, challenges and innovative solutions, the discussion space aims to enhance collective understanding and develop collaborative approaches to the complex problems that agrifood systems face today.

Engaging educators from diverse backgrounds and regions ensures a rich exchange of perspectives and ideas, which is essential for developing effective, context-specific educational strategies.

Educators' Resources

The Educators Network resources are collaboratively developed by educators. These resources may include lesson plans, projects, activities and initiatives tailored to local realities, designed for educators interested in delivering agrifood systems education.

Formal and non-formal educators will work together to build this resource repository, ensuring it is organic, cohesive and consistent. Involving educators in resource development allows them to contribute their expertise and creativity to the field of agrifood systems education. It also provides a platform for professional growth, enabling educators to enhance their knowledge, skills and networks within the community.

The World Food Forum Youth Education Programme has created a document inviting educators to share ideas and elements they would like to collaborate on with other network members.

Join this collaborative effort to create high-quality educational materials that address the unique needs of our community!
