The 2025 WFF Theme:
Hand in Hand for Better Foods and a Better Future

In 2025, as the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) marks its 80th anniversary, the World Food Forum (WFF) Global Youth Action Initiative (Youth Initiative) joins the global call to walk hand in hand towards a better food future, one rooted in solidarity, innovation and purpose.

This year’s theme, “Hand in Hand for Better Foods and a Better Future”, is a celebration of partnerships and a commitment to act. It unites youth, farmers, researchers, policymakers, investors and communities across generations to transform our agrifood systems through the shared vision of the four betters: better production, better nutrition, a better environment and a better life.

A turning point for the future of agrifood systems

Across the world, young people are stepping up as climate extremes intensify, becoming more frequent and severe.  Hunger grows in some regions, while waste and excess dominate in others. These contrasts reveal the fragility of today’s agrifood systems and underscore the urgent need for change.

At the same time, we hold the tools for transformation. With smarter practices, better technology, and stronger cooperation, we can cultivate resilience, restore balance, and advance the goals of better production, better nutrition, a healthier environment, and improved livelihoods.

Youth leading the way

The WFF Youth Initiative empowers young changemakers to collaborate across generations and sectors to co-create solutions that meet today’s challenges and shape tomorrow’s opportunities.

This year, the WFF Youth Initiative brings together voices from across the world to shape policy, develop solutions and spark innovation.

The 80th anniversary and a shared legacy

As FAO commemorates eight decades of  service, the WFF Youth Initiative honors the progress made and leans into the promise of what comes next. A highlight of the World Food Week is the launch of MuNe: the FAO Food and Agriculture Museum and Network, a new space for global exchange, science and storytelling. From food cultures to future tech, MuNe invites youth to explore how tradition and innovation can thrive together to deliver on the four betters.

What does ‘better’ mean for youth?

Better foods for a better future means:

  • Supporting sustainable production that respects our soil, water and biodiversity.
  • Making healthy diets accessible and affordable for all.
  • Strengthening systems that prioritize climate resilience and equity.
  • Ensuring decent work and opportunities for youth in agrifood systems.

Above all, it means coming together - across sectors, communities and generations, to build a future where people and planet thrive.
