About the WFF Egypt Youth Chapter

The WFF Egypt Youth Chapter is a dynamic, youth-led platform advancing innovation, leadership and action for sustainable agrifood systems in Egypt. Officially launched at the 2024 WFF flagship event, the Chapter has quickly evolved into a movement of young changemakers working to transform the future of food and agriculture.

Supported by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) Regional Office for Near East and North Africa (RNE) and the FAO Country Office in Egypt, the Chapter builds on the successful Food and Agriculture Model (FA Model) that empowers university students to turn their academic research and graduation projects into viable scientific and entrepreneurial solutions, addressing Egypt’s pressing agricultural and environmental challenges.

Marking a major milestone, the Chapter held its national launch on 15 May 2025 at King Salman International University (KSIU). The event brought together a distinguished group of participants, including the FAO Assistant Director-General and Regional Representative for the Near East and North Africa, the President of the University, the Dean of the Faculty of Desert Agriculture at KSIU, Youth Focal Points from both the FAO Regional Office and FAO Egypt, as well as a delegation from the WFF Youth Initiative. The Chapter aims to mobilize young people across Egypt to actively address the country’s most pressing challenges in food security and agrifood systems sustainability.

Mission and Vision

The mission of the Chapter is to empower youth to engage in policy, education, innovation and meaningful action for more sustainable and inclusive agrifood systems.

Its vision is to build a dynamic, youth-led movement that drives meaningful change and leads the transformation of Egypt’s agrifood systems by 2030.

Goals and Objectives

One of the primary goals of the Chapter is to raise awareness among youth about food security, sustainable development and the role of innovative solutions in agriculture. It aims to deliver educational programmes that equip youth with the knowledge and skills needed to lead in agrifood innovation, entrepreneurship and research. Through these efforts, the Chapter also seeks to advocate for national policies that promote sustainability, food security and social equity.

Specifically, the Chapter aims to:

  • Reach over 1 000 young students through awareness programmes;
  • Provide training to at least 10 teachers;
  • Support the launch of five youth-led food startups;
  • Advocate for policies that promote sustainable agricultural practices; and
  • Forge partnerships with local and international organizations, universities and agricultural institutions to promote collaboration and knowledge sharing.

Current initiatives

The Chapter is actively engaging with key stakeholders, such as NGOs, farmers and the private sector, to develop practical solutions to enhance food security and sustainability. The Chapter is also implementing training programmes to equip young leaders with the tools to drive Egypt’s Third Agricultural Revolution, shifting public perceptions and building a stronger future for agriculture.

Collaborations

Hosted by the Faculty of Desert Agriculture at KSIU, the Chapter benefits from strong academic support and provides a platform for students and professionals to explore sustainable agricultural practices.
