DATA4IMPACT by Francesca Rossi Minelli | XAARCHIVE
This site-specific video mapping installation by XAARCHIVE embraces the main facade of the FAO, transforming it into a stage for data and creativity. It represents an incredibly innovative fusion of visual art and data science, translating information and research from FAOSTAT into a visual and dynamic experience for the public.
At the heart of DATA4IMPACT is the concept of pixels: digital units with extraordinary power. Pixels multiply and combine to create something larger than themselves. This perfectly symbolizes the World Food Forum’s mission to make small changes that generate exceptional impact in agrifood systems, uniting humanity and youth around the globe.
Visualizing data as a display medium is key to understanding and addressing global challenges related to agriculture and food. Translating complex data into accessible artistic forms allows the audience to grasp the importance of these issues and reflect on how their daily actions can influence the future of our planet.
In a world where challenges related to food and agriculture are becoming increasingly complex, DATA4IMPACT serves as a tangible testament to the shared commitment to a better food future. XAARCHIVE STUDIO is a woman-led architecture and design studio. Their practice is often between the confines of nature and artificiality, aiming to design for a sustainable future, and reshape our relationship with nature and the non-human.
