The WFF Youth Initiative is guided by the rigor and strategic vision of dedicated youth advisory bodies: the Youth Policy Board (YPB) and the Young Scientists Group (YSG). Together, they form the foundation of evidence-based, youth-led policy making at global and regional level to shape and influence agrifood systems governance.
These bodies ensure that the WFF Youth Initiative’s work is grounded in scientific knowledge and shaped by policy priorities coming from young people across all regions, leaving no one behind.
How they lead and complement our work
The YPB is an independent body led by youth for youth that provides strategic policy direction, prepares draft policy outcome documents, recommendations and action plans to ensure that youth voices are structured, representative and evidence-based and reflected in key intergovernmental processes and global agrifood governance fora.
The YSG provides a scientific foundation. Composed of emerging and early-career researchers from diverse disciplines and regions, the YSG investigates technical issues of particular concern to youth in agrifood systems and generates evidence to support the WFF Youth Initiative's work.
Together, the YPB and YSG operate at the science-policy interface, where evidence supports youth-led policy recommendations. This integrated approach is central to the WFF Youth Initiative's commitment to having young people drive agrifood systems transformation, while generating more scientific policy making.

Youth Education towards a Better Food Future for All
Food is a basic human need – yet many young people do not know how it is produced, distributed or consumed, or how agrifood systems shape our health and our planet.
The WFF Youth Initiative believes quality agrifood education is key to youth engagement in sustainable agrifood systems. Education is both a fundamental right and a driver of sustainable agrifood systems transformation, shaping the knowledge, skills and values that underpin food security, decent livelihoods and sustainable resource management. When education and skills development are linked with food security and nutrition, they create the foundation for healthier populations and more resilient societies.
The WFF Youth Education Programme supports learners and educators to become agents of change – across their personal, professional and academic journeys – through learning, networking opportunities and resources that strengthen livelihoods and help sustainably transform agrifood systems worldwide.
