07/05/2026

The World Food Forum (WFF) Madagascar Youth Chapter was officially launched at the Youth headquarters within the Ministry of Youth and Sports on 3 April 2026. The event brought together approximately 50 young people, government representatives and key partners to exchange perspectives on youth engagement and the transformation of agrifood systems in the country.

‎Organized by the newly established Chapter, the event was supported by the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Madagascar SAE, Mpanazava Eto Madagasikara, Jejoo, ITU University and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO). The launch introduced the Chater’s objectives and created a space for young people to explore opportunities and participate in discussions and initiatives related to food security, nutrition and agrifood systems.

‎The event opened with a presentation of the Chapter, including its vision and priorities of the year. Discussions focused on strengthening connections between youth innovation and national agricultural priorities. Representatives from the Ministry of Youth and Sports and FAO also shared reflections on the importance of youth engagement and the role of partnerships in supporting youth-led action.

‎A question-and-answer session allowed participants to ask practical questions about membership, volunteering and opportunities to contribute to upcoming activities, including awareness campaigns and local food drives. Participants also highlighted the importance of mentorship and improved access to funding youth-led agricultural initiatives. Looking ahead, the Chapter plans to launch a membership drive and organize quarterly capacity-building workshops. Partners will support these efforts through technical guidance and networking opportunities.

The launch established a new platform for young people in the country to connect, exchange ideas and engage with partners on agrifood systems. Through continued youth-led action and collaboration, the Chapter will support opportunities for young people to contribute to more inclusive, resilient and sustainable agrifood systems in the country.
