Youth Culture for a Better Food Future
The WFF Youth Culture Programme leverages culture to engage, inspire and empower young people in leading agrifood systems transformation and contribute to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). By celebrating intangible food heritage such as food recipes, farming practices and culinary knowledge the programme highlights the connections between culture, identity and agrifood systems. Through activities in gastronomy, film, music and art, youth safeguard and promote sustainable agrifood systems practices, knowledge and skills in their communities and beyond.
Get involved
The World Food Forum needs youth volunteers, partners and sponsors to participate, help bring the events to life, and spread the word about the key issues facing our global agrifood systems and the WFF Youth Initiative's efforts to engage youth to solve these. If you want to join the movement and create a better food future with us, sign up for our mailing list and follow us on social media to keep up to date on our latest news.

GASTRONOMY

Gastronomy plays a vital role in transforming agrifood systems by empowering youth to preserve culture, promote sustainability and drive local food solutions.
FILM

Film is a powerful tool for youth to spotlight challenges and solutions in agrifood systems through storytelling that inspires awareness and action.
MUSIC

Music serves as a powerful medium for awareness and engagement, unifying audiences and raising awareness about agrifood systems issues, inspiring young people to take action
ART

Art empowers youth to spotlight agrifood system challenges, sparking dialogue and inspiring sustainable change.
Film
Film plays a crucial role in addressing critical topics such as climate change, innovation and sustainability by highlighting young filmmakers who explore complex agrifood systems issues through visual and narrative storytelling. Film serves as a persuasive medium for education on key issues and to inspire solutions and collective action for a more resilient and sustainable food future. Through its Youth Film Festival, the WFF provides a platform to showcase impactful stories, recognizing the creativity and vision of emerging filmmakers. By celebrating their work, this global competition amplifies critical conversations, promotes innovation and drives meaningful change in agrifood systems and beyond.
Music
Music is the thread that runs through all the WFF programmes during the flagship event and more. As a catalyst for change, it is what brings people together and brings them down to earth, whether it be during policy discussions or cultural events.
The anthem written and produced yearly by young international artists serves a personification of the theme to bring it to life through music.
Art
The art stream of the Culture programme harnesses the power of art, fashion and innovation to communicate the mission and values of the World Food Forum through stunning visual representations. Each flagship event features a dynamic art exhibition inside FAO HQ as well as an exhibition open to the public at the Rome Botanical Gardens curated and created by the Culture programme in collaboration with the youth run Tramandars art association.
The flagship event featured another iconic exhibition at FAO headquarters as well as a special exhibit at the Rome botanical gardens on forests and the Amazon.
Gastronomy
The gastronomy stream is at the very heart of the Youth Culture programme, as food is a universal language that has been bringing people together for generations. Events and programmes are held throughout the year, but the WFF flagship event at FAO headquarters is a special occasion to showcase food culture across regions.
To celebrate Sustainable Gastronomy Day, the WFF Youth Culture programme has launched Sustainable Gastronomy Week.
