Empowering youth for a regenerative future: Innovation in agrifood systems
On 14 October, during the 2025 World Food Forum (WFF) flagship event, the organizers Nestlé and Goodwall, hosted an engaging youth exhibition titled “Empowering youth for sustainable food systems”, bringing together passionate young changemakers and partners to discuss the role of the next generation in shaping sustainable and regenerative agriculture.
The exhibition aimed to amplify youth perspectives and promote collaboration, reinforcing the role of young people as drivers of innovation in agrifood systems transformation.
Representatives emphasized the importance of youth engagement in the future of agriculture and regenerative agrifood systems. They highlighted the urgent need to make farming appealing to young people, given that the current average age of farmers is 60 and global food demand is expected to rise by 17 percent by 2050.
Present at the booth was also the Goodwall team, showcasing and demonstrating their interactive platform, a next-generation social learning app with over three million users worldwide. They showcased how the app leverages gamified challenges and AI-driven pathways to teach regenerative agriculture in a fun and engaging way. Participants were encouraged to learn through community interactions, share ideas and explore innovative farming solutions while collaborating with a variety of stakeholders including the private sector, NGOs and governments.
Representatives highlighted several key themes, including youth engagement in agriculture, digital innovation for education and private-public collaboration. The discussion emphasized how gamified learning and social networking can inspire young people to adopt regenerative practices, create meaningful connections and drive systemic change in the agrifood sector.
At the booth, participants explored the app and discovered how digital tools can help scale education on regenerative agriculture globally.
The exhibition reflected the need to make agriculture exciting for young people and the importance of collaboration, digital innovation and mentorship. It underscored that empowering youth through platforms like Goodwall is key to safeguarding sustainable and regenerative agrifood systems for the future.
