17/03/2025

The World Food Forum (WFF) Youth Assembly is calling on young leaders, student networks, NGOs, WFF National Youth Chapters and all youth-led platforms to help shape global discussions on gender equality, education and economic opportunities in agrifood systems. Contributions will feed into a youth recommendations paper titled “Youth recommendations: Leveraging SDG4 and SDG8 to empower young women in agrifood systems”, to be presented at the High-Level Political Forum (HLPF) 2025.

The recommendations paper will not only compile youth priorities to empower young women in agrifood systems, but is also meant to guide the efforts of the Office of Youth and Women (OYW) of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and of the WFF Youth Assembly on this critical topics in 2026, which has been declared the International Year of the Woman Farmer by the United Nations General Assembly.

This call is part of a year-long consultation process that brings together youth, experts and policymakers to explore the interlinkages of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 2 (Zero Hunger), SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 5 (Gender Equality) and SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth). The objective is to understand how youth-led platforms can accelerate the empowerment of young women in agrifood systems by looking at the role that education, training and economic opportunities play.

This open call for inputs provides a unique opportunity for young individuals and youth-led organizations to submit policy recommendations, identify key challenges and propose actionable solutions to improve access to education, training and decent employment for young women in agriculture. Contributors, especially those representing larger groups, will be credited in the final document. This is your chance to make an impact on global policy discussions and ensure that youth voices are heard at the HLPF 2025.

Submissions are open until 31 May 2025, share your insights today!
