On 18 February 2026, the World Food Forum (WFF) Costa Rica Youth Chapter participated in the Second National Workshop for the structuring of the Scaling Up Nutrition (SUN) Movement Civil Society Alliance in Costa Rica. The workshop convened representatives from civil society organizations, academia and development partners working across nutrition, food security and sustainable agrifood systems, creating a space for dialogue and collaboration to address malnutrition in the country.

Throughout the day, participants engaged in a series of interactive discussions designed to shape the future of the Alliance. Working in groups, organizations explored key questions related to governance, sustainability and collaboration, reflecting on how civil society actors can coordinate more effectively to promote healthier agrifood systems and improved nutrition outcomes. The workshop also provided a space for organizations working in public health, sustainable production, research and community development to exchange experiences and identify common priorities, while sharing perspectives on the challenges and opportunities facing agrifood systems in Costa Rica.

One of the key outcomes of the workshop was the development of an initial action plan for the Alliance, outlining priority areas for future work. These include strengthening internal coordination among member organizations, supporting policy dialogue on nutrition and agrifood systems and improving communication and outreach to raise awareness about the challenges associated with malnutrition and sustainable diets. Participants also discussed ways to expand partnerships and engage a broader range of actors, recognizing that addressing complex agrifood systems challenges requires collaboration across sectors.

By contributing to this process, the Chapter continues to support youth participation in national conversations on agrifood systems transformation. Through engagement in multi-stakeholder platforms and collaboration with civil society partners, the Chapter seeks to ensure that young people are part of shaping solutions that promote more resilient, inclusive and sustainable agrifood systems in Costa Rica.
