On 8 May 2026, the World Food Forum (WFF) Ecuador Youth Chapter participated in a workshop on project management, resource mobilization, public policy and youth leadership held in Cumbayá, Ecuador.

Organized with the support of Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) Country Office in Ecuador, the workshop brought together more than 30 young leaders from eight provinces, including members of the Chapter and participants from the Empleo AgroJoven programme, to strengthen capacities linked to sustainable agrifood systems.

Throughout the workshop, participants took part in training sessions, practical exercises and group discussions on project formulation, resource mobilization, governance and communication skills. The workshop also featured exchanges on public policies related to agrifood systems and rural youth participation, alongside discussions on collaboration between youth organizations and networks working across different territories in Ecuador.

The Chapter presented its priorities for 2026 and shared ongoing initiatives on agrifood systems transformation, climate resilience and youth engagement.  Participants identified shared interests in agroforestry, sustainable agrifood systems and territorial youth-led initiatives, opening new opportunities for collaboration between Chapter members, Empleo AgroJoven participants and partner organizations.

A key outcome of the workshop was strengthened coordination among participating youth networks and organizations. The sessions also supported the development of practical skills in project design and resource mobilization, while generating proposals for future joint activities, including a potential eco-gastronomic fair planned for 2026.

Overall, the workshop reinforced the Chapter’s role as a platform for youth collaboration and engagement in Ecuador’s agrifood systems transformation, while expanding connections between young leaders, organizations and institutions working to advance more inclusive, resilient and sustainable agrifood systems.
