Culture for a Better Food Future
What do film, art, music, gastronomy have to do with the growing climate crisis and our strained agrifood systems? These cultural threads sew the fabric of a connected world that transcends all boundaries, to help connect young people and empower them to transform agrifood systems. Gastronomy, art, music and film all act as universal languages to communicate across borders and cultures.
This year, the WFF will focus on the theme "Good food for all, for today and tomorrow". Bringing culinary traditions, the inspiring power of film, and the bonding aspect of music and art together in the lead up to the WFF 2024 flagship event in Rome, we aim to highlight our mission statement and bridge the gap between policy, youth advocacy and actionable solutions towards a better food future for all.
Get involved
The World Food Forum needs youth volunteers, partners and sponsors to participate, help bring the events to life, and spread the word about the WFF and the key issues facing our global agrifood systems. If you want to join the movement and create a better food future with us, sign up for our mailing list and follow us on social media to keep up to date on our latest news.

Film
Film plays a crucial role in addressing critical topics such as climate change, innovation and sustainability by highlighting young filmmakers who explore complex agrifood systems issues through visual and narrative storytelling. Film serves as a persuasive medium for education on key issues and to inspire solutions and collective action for a more resilient and sustainable food future. Through its Youth Film Festival, the WFF provides a platform to showcase impactful stories, recognizing the creativity and vision of emerging filmmakers. By celebrating their work, this global competition amplifies critical conversations, promotes innovation and drives meaningful change in agrifood systems and beyond.
Music
Music is the thread that runs through all the WFF programmes during the flagship event and more. As a catalyst for change, it is what brings people together and brings them down to earth, whether it be during policy discussions or cultural events.
The anthem written and produced yearly by young international artists serves a personification of the theme to bring it to life through music.
Art
The art stream of the Culture programme harnesses the power of art, fashion and innovation to communicate the mission and values of the World Food Forum through stunning visual representations. Each flagship event features a dynamic art exhibition inside FAO HQ as well as an exhibition open to the public at the Rome Botanical Gardens curated and created by the Culture programme in collaboration with the youth run Tramandars art association.
The 2024 flagship event featured another iconic exhibition at FAO headquarters as well as a special exhibit at the Rome botanical gardens on forests and the Amazon.
Gastronomy
The gastronomy stream is at the very heart of the Culture programme, as food is a universal language that has been bringing people together for generations. Events and programmes are held throughout the year, but the WFF flagship event at FAO headquarters is a special occasion to showcase food culture across regions.
To celebrate Sustainable Gastronomy Day, the WFF Culture programme has launched Sustainable Gastronomy Week.
