WFF Italy Youth Chapter at the Venice Climate Week

18/07/2025

On 6 June 2025, the World Food Forum (WFF) Italy Youth Chapter participated in the inaugural Venice Climate Week by co-organizing a youth-focused session titled “Feeding the Future”, in collaboration with the Future Food Institute. The session created space for young people to share ideas, showcase youth-led action and explore meaningful pathways for engagement in the transformation of agrifood systems.

The Venice Climate Week (3-8 June 2025) served as an open platform to accelerate dialogue on climate action, sustainability and regenerative economic models. The week brought together institutions, businesses, scientists, artists and youth to collectively reimagine the ecological transition.

Members of the Chapter also contributed as volunteers throughout the week. They attended intergenerational panels, expert sessions and high-level dialogues, representing the voices of youth and reinforcing their role as future leaders.

The “Feeding the Future” session was a milestone for the Chapter, reinforcing its strategic vision and the growing role of youth in shaping sustainable agrifood systems. The session was opened with remarks from Sara Roversi, founder of the Future Food Institute, and featured contributions from Chapter members Carlo Dernini, Cyrine Ben M’rad and Noran Khalil. They presented the Chapter’s youth-led governance model and its network of over 290 members across Italy. The Chapter’s working groups lead a range of impactful initiatives that address major agrifood systems challenges from food safety and waste reduction to rural women’s empowerment. These groups also support research, events and partnerships, ensuring that national efforts are grounded in community needs, informed by evidence and connected to global sustainability goals.

The session shared best practices for formalizing WFF National Youth Chapters as legal entities, underlining the importance of strong governance and institutional credibility in youth-led structures.  By co-hosting this dialogue during Venice Climate Week, the Chapter not only amplified youth participation in a global sustainability forum but also deepened its collaboration with the Future Food Institute.
