Global youth platform on One Health in agrifood systems

Vision

A world where youth are recognized and empowered as vital leaders in advancing the One Health approach within agrifood systems, where their insights and voices inform and shape policies, interventions and sustainable practices across human, animal, plant and environmental health.

Mission

To foster a structured and sustainable global youth constituency that serves as a global platform that enables young people from diverse geographic and professional backgrounds to contribute meaningfully to advancing the One Health approach in agrifood systems at local, national, regional and global levels.

It will champion One Health in agrifood systems by:

  • Facilitating inclusive platforms for intergenerational dialogue, knowledge exchange, technical and leadership capacity strengthening and peer-to-peer collaboration;
  • Promoting youth-led innovation, research and coordinated advocacy that address the interdependencies of ecosystems, food security and health; and
  • Integrating youth perspectives into international policy spaces, relevant to One Health.

Objectives

Amplify youth participation in One Health in the context of agrifood systems policymaking and governance across sectors and at all decision-making levels.

Build capacity among young people to understand, contribute to, and lead efforts in One Health issues related to agrifood systems.

Support engagement of youth in the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) One Health technical activities, including the One Health Joint Plan of Action and food safety initiatives.

Enable a youth-led network that connects young professionals, between disciplines and regions, fostering intersectoral collaboration. This follows FAO’s announcement of a global youth-led platform on One Health in Agrifood Systems at the World Food Forum 2026.

Foster inclusive, intergenerational, gender-responsive dialogue and advocacy on One Health challenges in agrifood systems.
