Youth constituencies
A global youth constituency is a youth-led, inclusive and participatory mechanism that mobilizes diverse young stakeholders to collectively shape policy and governance processes. It enables the co-creation, consolidation and advancement of youth-driven priorities within policymaking, governance frameworks and programmatic action at national, regional and global levels.
Through the development of sector-specific global youth constituencies, the Youth Assembly connects youth representatives from across agrifood systems to strengthen coordinated youth engagement and representation. This approach helps ground FAO’s technical guidance in the lived experiences, realities and innovations of young people actively driving transformation within their sectors.
A global youth constituency serves as:
- a bridge between grassroots youth and institutions, from local to global levels;
- a platform for co-creating policy recommendations and sharing knowledge;
- a mechanism for capturing qualitative insights on youth perspectives across sectors; and
- an international and legitimate voice representing youth in agrifood systems governance spaces.
